3 Most Important Things ALL Dogs Must Know

I’ve talked about this in the past and I want to revisit it, because it IS THAT IMPORTANT.

As a dog trainer I’m always asked: “What is the most important thing for dogs to know?” Without a doubt, I always say this THREE THINGS!

  1. COME when called
  2. LEAVE IT
  3. STAY

In no particular order, because they’re all important. This doesn’t matter if it’s a rescue dog, family pet or competitive working dog. These are critical for the dog’s safety, the owners safety and wellbeing as well as the safety of the community. They are not hard to teach, but they take a little time and some structure.

In this lesson I cover all three with Siggy and Max. These dogs are very different personalities and drives, so you may see the finer points in teaching it to various dogs. I left the video complete (as I always strive to do) no edits – and as you know, I leave in the mistakes. That is what you will learn from. Corrections are necessary and I spend quite a bit of time explaining the corrections, timing and rewards… so HAPPY TRAINING!
