Competition Style Focused Heeling with Siggy

The Focussed Heel, also known as a competition style heel has become extremely popular lately and I think people can never get enough of it. I’ve posted a few video lessons of it, but as I always say, it’s different with each dog, so I think you’ll gain something from this simple video with Siggy.

There are several ways to teach this, but only the finer points are different. Luring and marking the behaviors are all pretty much the same and the goal is always the same: a dog that walks next to you looking upward and the dog’s shoulders shouldn’t pass your knee. That is the ultimate goal if you’re competing at a high level, but getting the basics down can sometimes be frustrating, and I mean for the dog as much as for you. So, go slow. Get one two or three steps and throw a party.
