As many of you know, Jerome, my good friend, was the victim of a double stroke a few weeks before this video was shot. He was at risk of losing Karl and that broke his heart. We had just started training Karl a few months back, and then this stroke took Jerome by storm. I promised him I would not let anything come between him and Karl.
But how could we do this, Jerome had lost most of the strength of one side of his body and Karl is still a strong dog. THAT is where the e-collar comes in. My friend gave Jerome and Karl an awesome ecollar as a gift and we began conditioning Karl to it. It was simple task and Karl took to it very well. This was the tool that would keep these two together. It was a lifesaver and game changer for a guy who loves his dog as if it were his own child.
As you all know, I am a big advocate of keeping dog training free and open. PROSECUTE anyone who abuses a dog, but don’t take away tools that can help. This is exactly one of those situations where this is so necessary.
To some this may be a boring lesson, full of “not much going on,” but others will see the value in that “nothing.” A well behaved Rottweiler under the control of a guy who is struggling with building his own physical self. Jerome is a hero to me. He NEVER gave up. He has the determination of a super-human! Love these two guys!
