Welcome back to our puppy series with Max the Akita. This is lesson 6 and today we’re going to touch on “fading the lure” whether that is a treat or hand signal or a toy. We need our dogs to know that they will be rewarded, but they should perform the command when asked. We use the lure with a treat to condition the behavior, but then must fade them so our dog doesn’t become overly reliant on them.

ONCE YOUR DOG KNOWS THE COMMANDS
HE MUST DO THEM WITHOUT BEING LURED.
