Teaching your dog STAY should be a natural part of the DOWN, SIT or STAND… but often it’s not. If you don’t teach your dog clearly what STAY means, your dog will more than likely break. This will be the case whether you say STAY or not.
In this lesson I address the root cause of this in a concept I refer to as Active STAY. That means you’re teaching the dog to be attentive and pay attention while they are staying. Keeping the dog engaged is the secret to getting your dog to stay in the STAY. I’ve covered this before, but I think this lesson will really clear it up even more and make teaching the STAY a simpler task.
