The Importance of Grooming

I’ve posted a lot of lessons that are long and detailed and some that are fun, but THIS online dog training lesson is critical.

In this short lesson, I want to tell you the critical importance of being tactile with your dog.   Touching them, looking at them, examining them.. BEING AWARE.

Grooming your dog gives you the time and opportunity to touch your dog and get. closer look.  Your dog can’t tell you when there’s something wrong, YOU have to find it.  Touch your dog, palpate, examine every inch.  Look for little bumps and abnormalities.  If you find something, be your dog’s advocate.

I’m telling you this because I was just dealt one of the most devastating blows of my life today.  I can’t really talk about it yet, but I will tell you, my members first.

In the meantime, check this video lesson and take it to heart.  Watch it twice and look at your dog, touch them and make notes.  Ask a vet if you have a question, and if that vet doesn’t make you feel better, ask another vet!

Your dog depends on you to be his or her advocate. They probably won’t tell you if something is wrong, LOOK!
