The three most important things
a dog trainer should possess:

1: A true love & compassion for dogs

2. The ability to understand dogs

3. The ability to find solutions and communicate them to you

More than just training...

There are countless aspects that are often overlooked when hiring a “dog trainer.”

Robert is well versed in the various methods of dog training available and will determine the most beneficial for you and your dog.

Different dogs learn in different ways and respond very differently to the various approaches.  Some dog trainers may offer only one approach to your dog’s issues such as e-collar training, board & train, positive only training, coercion only training, etc.  These are one-trick ponies when it comes to the complexities of canine behavior.

As a specialist in all aspects of dog training & canine behavior theory, Robert’s approach is the whole dog.

Robert’s sessions incorporate every aspect of your dog’s well-being including: training, behavior, diet, exercise, safety considerations, referrals, travel, purchase / adoption and more.

Whatever your dog’s needs, they will be addressed.  Robert works with other trainers on referral so that irrespective of your location, you can find a trainer in your area.

In order to achieve the best results, Robert’s method of dog training is broken down into a precise format:

The Assessment, Orientation, Evaluation:

During the initial session Robert works to address your issues and concerns with your dog.  In order to precisely understand the issue at heart, Robert assess the relationship, the dog’s drives and training ability and then guides you to the proper training for your specific situation. This intensive session is necessary to understand, determine and address a proper protocol for training.  For new dog owners, puppies and complex behavior issues, this session can last up to two hours.

The Intensive Training Approach:

Most commonly, dog trainers meet clients once a week, Robert addresses behavior in an intensive approach to ensure the success of the training.  Rather than meeting once a week for 10 weeks, Robert’s unique method condenses the training into an intensive format which exposes both the human and the dog to full immersion. This program of dog training works much better because there is less margin for error. If you meet once a week, by the time you meet for your next session 7 days have passed and any mistake will have been repeated and reinforced 100+ times. These mistakes, once hard-wired, are very difficult to “undo” in the dog’s mind. Rather than creating a system of potential failure, Robert’s method will reinforce the correct way over the Intensive Phase of training and his step-by-step training will help you and your dog succeed.

The Maintenance:

Once you and your dog have a clear understanding of the techniques, the relationship and the ability to clearly communicate with one another, most of the work is done (at least the hard part). A training routine is now set up and most training progresses without much need for help. However, occasional reinforcements and coaching keeps the training moving along and helps right any possible mistakes that might arise. During the Maintenance Phase, Robert meets with you to review, tweak, adjust and modify your training to keep you on your path. Much like the maintenance phase after a diet, this maintenance keeps the training working day-in and day-out.

*** Maintenance sessions are advisable monthly but can be scheduled more regularly at the discretion of the client.

What people are saying...

Thank you sincerely Robert for your training session and continued advice on Dora and Burton. It is hard to believe that after just one month of first meeting with you, the tremendous progress Dora and Burton have made. They are now able to play together outside like bulldogs should and are on their way to becoming great friends. In fact, they even played together in the house tonight while Burton was allowed time out of his crate. It is hard to believe that they literally were trying to attack each other instantly if even near one another other a month ago.

I refer him regularly as a trainer with amazing “dog” intuition and someone who can get the job done. But don’t be fooled, if there is work to be done by the owner, he doesn’t pull the punches. He is straight forward and honest and I trust him.
He is truly man’s man’s best friend. Thank you Robert for all you do and giving me hope for our canine friends.

Thanks to Robert Cabral and his Black Belt dog training, our beautiful shelter dog has a chance of a new life with his forever home.
“Sparky” required immediate assessment and correction for aggressive fear behaviors, which were discovered by Robert upon his first visit to our home.
Saving one dog at a time is a blessing, especially since the dog saved is our beloved mutt. Without Robert’s intervention, we doubt that “Sparky” would have survived, so we cannot recommend Robert’s methods enough. Kudos to Robert.

]Robert helped us with our dog-aggressive English bulldog. He was there to work with our dogs the day we brought our first child home from the hospital. We have recommended him to our clients for years and have never been disappointed. He is both compassionate and professional and has saved countless numbers of dogs from the shelter system.

Without reservations, Robert Cabral surpasses the level set by others who think they know anything about dog training. No one ever did for an animal and for myself what he has done, he’s made me understand the why’s and the very nature of dogs. He is a stand alone act because he produces a level of skill & competence that is rare in any field. Because he has such a deep and spiritual understanding of animals, he gets results quickly. Robert has made training fun for me and for my Rosie and I now look forward to our training time together. Rosie is happier and safer today because Robert set us on the right path. I’m so grateful to Robert for opening up another world of pleasure for us.
