My Dog’s Favorite Toy

This is a crucial lesson in toy training, and so much of your training should revolve around toys as a reward. I’m always surprised at how trainers as well as dog owners have an issue with getting toys back from their dogs, try to figure out which toy their dog will like and so much more. If your dog has toy drive, they will like any toy that you make interesting. Remember though that there are a very small percentage of dogs that don’t like toys, I’ve met a few. If you have one of these dogs, stick with food rewards and praise. That being said, no matter what reward your dog prefers, ALWAYS use praise as it will be your most consistent and readily available reward ALWAYS!

In this lesson I talk about getting TWO of the EXACT toy. That means, buy it on the same day, keep them together and if one goes, so does the other. Matched toys are matched toys. This will be a huge part in your dog’s comprehension of “I want what you have!”

PS. The shorter version of this video, on YouTube doesn’t include a lot of the tips found in this video, so watch it twice!
