  Can’t take the kid anywhere!

  Hi everyone! I’m new to the site and so far really enjoying the training. I have an 8 month old German Shepherd named Floki. My ultimate goal with my dog is to be able to take him with me everywhere I go where dogs are allowed. I live in Australia and want us to do a tour around Australia together in my van. The problem is that recently, everytime I tie him outside the coffee shop or post office to get in and out quick, he started throwing massive tantrums. Howling, barking, whining… the ultimate embarrassment. If we travel together I know i have to fix this so it’s pleasant for both of us. He does that when hes in his crate and sees me leaving home but eventually stops when he knows hes really not coming. However, he doesn’t do that when I leave him in the van with the doors shut (do not worry, he doesnt stay in the car for long periods of time and never in the heat). So i am trying to figure out how the car is different in his dog brain… I mean, regardless of where we are, i always come back! Where would I start to fix this? Thank you in advance!
