Anxious behaviour out of nowhere!

Hi, my 10 month old male cane corso is very well socialised and so far displays a solid temperament. However the last few days he has started to act very skittish at seemingly nothing. He seems to pick up a scent and then starts to take a very low posture and sniffs around and display anxious behaviour. He has done this in several places which he has been to many times before with no problems. This morning he even sniffed around the car in our yard and began to act like this. He still listens to some commands when he acts like this but he is definitely not engaging with me or my partner. Any suggestions what could bring this on and how can I fix??

My Pit at times would get visibly anxious. It may be totally different reason/process than yours, but we would do a tiny obedience session with 4-5 very very very easy commands for him, sit, paw, five, etc. and praise a lot. Using that to build him out of it. I do not remember how long it took for him to totally get over it, but he did.

That sounds like he might be going through a “fear period.” It happens even if the puppy has been well bred, well socialized, well trained. It’s just part of their development. Take note of his triggers and continue your training. Never coddle the dog. He should grow out of it eventually.

Oops, by praise, I meant the training
