    Hi Everyone,

I train my 4 month old to ignore other dogs, and he is doing quiet well.

I allowed him to meet our neighbors golden retriever few days ago, and noticed that he plays very rough, his go to move is throw both front paws at the others face or back and attempts to mount it. I don’t allow this, and break it up asap, neighbors think I’m over reacting, am I ?

This also has me thinking, while I am training him to ignore other dogs, am I depriving him of opportunities to learn appropriate interaction with dogs? I am concerned because I don’t want him to endure long flights while I go on vacation, so sooner or later he will need to learn to be around other dogs in day care. I am not sure how he will behave around other dogs without me around, and this concerns me.

Making your dog, dog neutral is a very good thing, so is stopping him from being a nuckle head when he gets too rough. Eventually those two things will blend into nice play with the dogs that you want him to play with.
