Because I felt bad, I increased the crate time, monitored her hours of sleep & made her more sensitive to chew toys. I also training her to move my hand around her head, rewarding (no bite) or calmly saying “no” (bite). It’s starting to work well, except during zoomies or when she’s very playful. If she “bites” I hold my hand/leg still and say “no” as calmly as possible, and again. If she doesn’t stop/bites too hard, I hold my hand still, try to hold her (scruff) and say “no.” If she grabs back, I do the same. Or I give a tap on the snout if I can’t grab her scruff. Is this a better strategy?

I started the leash course, and am not clear on what collar you recommend. 5 month old GSD. only problem is pulling, but getting better with the exercise you present.  In follow up to my question about when to use prong collar: I am using one now on 5month GSD, but moving to Maui in 2 months, and they are not allowed there – at all. Should I continue to train as long as I can here (Alaska) with prong or switch to slip lead now and only train with that? Thank you

Hi Mr. Cabral, we are working with our new malinois, trying to improve an aspect of his barking. He’s actually a very quiet dog unless something gets his attention and then winds up to 100% and stays there for 20 to 30 seconds despite any intervention or comments from me. I’m glad that he barks when there is a need to, but how do you get them to calm down and stop barking when you give them the “all clear” that they don’t need to go continue barking because an armadillo was walking across the yard. I don’t want to dampen his spirits or alerting habit, just stop when I say so. Thanks!

I am wondering if you can offer insight on a dog I recently adopted. She was from a severe cruelty case 2 bullets to her head, 2 bullets to her shoulder, a fractured jaw, fractured paw, one eye removed and the other eye blind from previous beatings, maggot infested bite wounds all over her body, emaciated and she is deaf. The SWEETEST DOG EVER. I want to enrich her life. Can you please suggest what I could do to engage her after decompression? I was thinking to do tracking? Also she’s very attached now and panics a bit when she senses me away from her….very tough with the crate, suggestions?

My new dog has lived with us for only 2 weeks. he is about 4.5 months old and I have a lot of socialization to do. He has connected to me very quickly and is a sweet boy. With this dog socialization and environmental training is extremely important and this has already started. I have seen dogs from his blood lines and they were not aggressive. But a kangal is still a serious dog and his father was a 170 pound dog. This has been planned for a few years and I have put together a plan for us. I would still appreciate you input in a development plan. Hope you are all doing well, best regards.

If I have a chihuahua/ dauschand with a small long body, is there another way to approach the down command? She is so low to the ground Already.

Hi Robert, I just adopted a 2 months old malinois puppy : So far it’s a lot of fun (your videos played a big part in that, so many thanks) ! I use the tug as a reward after the 3-5mns “training” we do during his high energy times of the day. How do I start teaching him to “Aus”, or release the tug properly ? He loves to play with it and he’s getting better at bringing it back to me to keep playing once I drop it out of fake exhaustion, I want the “release” part to be part of the fun for him, not a source of frustration. Thanks a lot !

Hi Robert. Hope you and the family are well. I have a one year old mini dachshund and overall thanks to consistent training she’s great. I’m finding training and walking slightly more difficult in our local park and neighbourhood compared to neutral locations as she seems to be more alert/ on edge/nervous, particularly when another dog comes into the vicinity. Is this a common behaviour? We use a longline and martingale collar, is it as simple as a small correction to get focus back to me or will this make her more on edge? Thank you very much

I have started training my 4-month old bm with basic obedience by luring her with treats during her mealtime. I have been doing this for 3 weeks. Recently I started to start to train her on a table. She can easily follow the sit, down, and stand commands by following my hand that holds the treat. My question is, at what point can my dog follow the command just by words and without seeing any treats in my hand? And how to transition to that training? Also, any tips or correction that you will see on the video will be greatly appreciated.
