I’m getting my boxer puppy in 3 weeks so I was rewatching your 30 day puppy course. I heard you say you are a fan of vaccinating your dogs but not over vaccinating. What do you mean exactly by over Vaccinating?

Due to personal circumstances, I am now alone with my two dogs 6yo Mali and 2yo GSD/PBT. Any suggestions on how to handle training both dogs, and can it be done with them together?
Teaching the younger one to walk nicely on a leash is proving harder, and possibly because I’m walking the two dogs together almost every time, I find it hard to do proper/timely leash corrections and give rewards for pulling on the leash or reacting to some dogs on the leash.
Should I try to take more time during the day for individual training?

My 11 month Américan Bully is mouthy when grabbing his collar or when excited. What do you recommend?

Hi Robert. I am wondering if you have suggestions for an e-collar and training tips for a 6 1/2 pound chihuahua. He is 11 months old and is doing great with is training. He is my son’s dog and he has a great obedience foundation on him. We are working on his “stranger danger” barking at people, dogs, and things he finds scary. It is improved a bunch since we have started. I have used a micro pinch on him for corrections and he responded well with very mild corrections. I am looking for suggestions on an e-collar, would you use one and what brand would you recommend. I use a dogtra for my GSD.

Should I use two types of treats when training leave it? One to throw in front of them and then another to reward. Should we reward using the same food that we have just asked them to leave?

Hi Robert, an update on my 4 1/2 mo Border Terrier pup. His issue of biting and jumping with me is solved, to a reasonable extent, by shutting down. The issue remains with my wife though. He continues to bite at her ankles and she can’t “shut down” with teeth digging into her heel and achilles. She bleeds, cries, gets so frustrated that she dreads taking him out when he’s acting up. Her friends recommend a vibrating collar. I’m not for it, but can’t articulate a reason why she can’t try it. Wanted to try hot sauce, but her ankles are covered in cuts. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hey Robert, I have a 4mth old mini Bernedoodle. I noticed on your crate training video that your puppy was on the couch for a bit. What is your opinion on puppies on the couch?Does it matter, is it only with permission? Of course there can’t be chewing of cushions etc. I used to tell her “OFF” when she jumped up. I became concerned cause she would get silly (after the “OFF”) and jump over the back of the couch onto the hard floor. So since, I have chilled a bit about it. Should I get more strict with her regarding the couch? Her other training is going great. She’s a smart confident puppy.

Hi Robert – We are getting a new dog this upcoming weekend and were curious what type of collar/harness would be good to use for running with the dog? I understand the prong collar is for training so we will have that for our training sessions and plan to get a normal collar for around the house outside of training sessions (should we keep the prong in either scenario too?) – but we’re ultimately curious which to use for going on runs with the dog?
