With your experience what would you say is the biggest mistakes that an owner can make when it comes to separation anxiety and what can an owner do to try and help the situation? If I go to the park with my wife and my 9 month old GSD, she will cry when I go to the restroom. Are there specific daily habits or routines an owner might be doing that unintentionally feed into the anxiety?

Hi Robert. Our 18. month old Belgian M started a new behavior, before taking him out for play, he is barking relentlessly, even when giving him a command he will not stop until we are outside, and then he is perfect again. We tried to ignore it, which did not make a difference. We are now trying to change the anticipation of going outside by asking him to stay, before taking the remote for the e collar and that seems to work. Any other suggestions.

I have an 11 week Malinois puppy. I have had him for 4 full days as of Monday 5/18, I am following your instructions for crate training, he wines maybe a few minutes then rests, he is getting there each day that passes. The challenge for me is getting him back into the crate when its time for him to rest. I take him out every 1 to 2 hours, and he may be out for anywhere between 20 to 60 minutes depending how upon what we are doing and how amped up he gets. I lure him in with treats or food, is this the right way? Thank you.

We rescued our Five-year-old dog when she was a puppy (12 weeks) We had our DNA done and found out she is 1/4 standard poodle ¼ French mastiff, 1/4 Australian Shepherd, And one quarter Staffordshire/Pit.

After watching many of your free videos, she is crate, trained, walks well on a leash, knows basic commands (Sit, stay, come, place) However, we live in the country and don’t have a lot of people over typically. I feel that she needs socialization, because she seems To view strangers who come onto our property as a threat. How can I safely socialize her? (She is 94 pounds of muscle). she is very smart, easy to train & Highly motivated…

But I feel I have really failed her in the socialization department, and now it is a concern for me. I love that she is protective because I work from home, alone, BUT It concerns me that she has a hard time listening to “It’s OK.” I am a tall, relatively strong woman, But she is way stronger and I know it, Which makes me leery of taking her to the park or other public place before I get her under control, which is a Catch-22 since she needs to be around other people to learn that they are not usually a threat.
