Hi Robert

I wanted to follow up on a few points. I’m from Latvia,Janis (Yanis) is a popular male name here,I’m 6ft; 270 lb,ex-strength athlete.Strength is why I got the RR. Even got lucky,my dog is bigger than the average RR 104lb lean.Good structure.

Tug-play would exhaust him better, I want my RR to go all out,do you have video on building play-tug drive?

I can get him to play-bite my arms, sometimes we go nuts, has a great stop command, doesn’t like biting fuzzy fabric(gagging reflex?).Considering buying a sleeve for the play biting.Would you recommend it?

Thanks,Love your content!

My malinois is from mondioring x knpv lines.

She has a lot of dominance and aggression in her, not a problem in everyday life she is actually a very sweet girl.

IGP is not possible in my situation and real protection work is not possible in Norway.

I still want to explore this side off her.

I have a helper and we are going to do some simulated patrol exercises, just barking on command/location no bite.

When I send the dog forward in direction of a object and give a down command she often turns to look at me when in the down.

I want her to keep focusing forward towards the object or person.

What are the beginning steps in teaching heel? The dogs in your videos already have a good understanding of heel, how did they get to that point bc we don’t see the foundational work in your videos ex: Siggy was walking backwards in heel position which is more advanced than a basic heel. How did he get to that point? When I say heel my dog comes to my left side on a walk but he’s not always focused on me or glued to my side. If I say heel w/out a leash or practice positioning & eye contact in my house I don’t think my dog knows what I want bc he will do a default behavior like down vs heel

I have a rescued ex-racing Greyhound of 4 years old. She has a terrible prey drive behavior with cats, rabbits, squirrels, etc. Basically with everything it moves as she is a sighthound. Every time she sees a cat she bites the leash to get rid of it or tries to bite me. I don’t know how to teach her to stop that behavior or correct her as I have tried everything with other trainers but nothing works.

Hello Mr Robert, I’m Nikos from Greece and I started working as a dog trainer 1,5 years ago.I have a working line female gsd puppy (6,5 month old now) and she is going to be my working partner…if it’s not too much I would love for some advice for the things I need to focus with her at this point to have a nice, calm and social dog in the future…I also consider some sports with her at the future but my main purpose is for her to be as well mannered as she can be…thank you in advance for your advice ,I’m taking your lessons these days,I hope soon I can afford the full trainer’s course

I’m back with another question about the Mal I took in from an unfortunate situation. She’s very good on walks and when we meet people she is friendly or just stands next to me calmly. On 2 occasions she has suddenly lunged at 2 men in my home. First a neighbor, next time my son. She was laying down quietly & lunged for them. I had her on a leash so no one got bit. I immediately crated her. I have crated her whenever anyone comes over. I am widowed & live with my daughter. My sons visit occasionally. I also have a new grandchild. I was just told she was abused her 1st year. I am her 3rd owner.

This is part 2. Do you think this dog can ever be trustworthy around my family? She will be 4 in February. I’m scared I won’t ever feel comfortable with her around my sons and their families. I’m wondering if I should muzzle train her & as time goes on , let her out of the crate with a muzzle when my son is here? My other thought is , I’m in over my head and should try to rehome her. My daughter (in a wheelchair) loves the dog, but I haven’t let her take the dog out on a leash alone. I’m afraid she’ll drag her out of the chair. The dog does go out at night with her in a tow truck. She does repos.

My wife dropped a bone by accident on the floor and our dog quickly came to claim it. However, we know that he has a resource guarding behavior so my wife lured him away with high value treats while I went to pick up the bone. We have taught the “leave it” command but not leveled up to high value items yet. Then after 10 mins after the situation ended, my dog went to bite my wifes toes, luckily she was wearing shoes and bit her arm as well. Luckily no blood was drawn but big bruises. Our dog has resource guarding issues and would attack my wife. 3 yr old terrier mix. raised since 3 mo old.

I have a 16 week old American Bulldog. She has been sleeping in her kennel since day 1 and generally does ok. She hasn’t really had accidents in the house and goes to the door, barking when she wants to go out. My 15yo bought a 5yo European Doberman retired from a breeder and she’s impeccably trained. Since we brought her home a month ago, Luna has started peeing in the kennel to get let out. She will sit in the pee and cry. She goes out every 30 mins and still does it, even mins after she just peed. She wants out to be with Karma. How do I fix this. Her kennel is pretty small already

Hey Robert, many thanks for your great work and videos. I have a 16-week-old Malinois puppy. She responds to a number of commands very well but for ‘sit’ and ‘platz’ she ALWAYS gets really close to me before actually executing them. It’s especially bad for ‘platz’, as she will break command to get closer if I move away a little bit (although I am reinforcing the command/behaviour by saying ‘gooooood platz’ like you do in your videos). She MUST have a paw on my foot or the ‘platz’ isn’t happening. Also, her ‘platz’ is often impossibly crooked! What’s your advice please? Many thanks!

Hi. I have an 8 month old Border collie I’ve messaged before and thank you for your advice. I often take him out on walks with long line in quiet street and practice staying next to me, with a ball or treat to reward. It’s not perfect but assume because of his age he still wants to wander away from me. Even more so when we go to busier streets or roads his attention is often elsewhere or wants to see other dogs. My goal is to have him as neutral as possible when on walks, I was wondering when you would recommend switching to 6ft lead so that he isn’t constantly pulling. Thank you again!

Here are some more details regarding the biting of my wife after luring him away to pick up his bone. We adopted him while he was 3 mo old and now he is over 3.5 years old. He is a terrier mix and we do continuously work on the leave it command. However the dog seems to look to me as the main handler only. Any tips on strengthening my wife “status”?
