I have a pit/husky mix she is 5 years old. She was an outside dog for the first year or so of her life. I didn’t really play with her at all other some stuffed animals. Now she is 5 years old and I cant seem to get her interested in a ball or tug to play. I’ve watched ivans courses on possession games but still feel like im missing something. She has a ton of drive to chase real life critters like squirrels or bunnies but I haven’t had any luck on channeling that energy into the tug or ball. Any thoughts?

Hey Robert, I need advice on how to get my 7 month old malinois to not get overly excited about everyone. Every time we go on hikes and see people she gets super excited and jumping everywhere. She especially goes crazy over kids. I know her pray drive is through the roof so I think that’s why kids are worse. I want to socialize her but also I want her to be indifferent to people and not always be excited like that. I appreciate your input and Thank You for all you do.

I have a female Dutch Shepherd who’s 1 yr old. She has been a pretty quick learner and eager to please. Today I started a session with her and I’m quite sure I made plenty of mistakes as I am pretty new to this level of work with a dog. She was getting certain things and having trouble with others, which was fine, we would get back to the things she was succeeding at. By the end of the session and even hours later(currently) wants nothing to do with me or any commands, even coming to treats. I don’t know what happened or what to do to remedy this. Any suggestions?

I have three dogs – two that are 4 year old siblings and one that is 2 years old. Is there any recommendation for how to train them properly? Do I try to train them as a group? One on one only at first? Also am I supposed to help them establish their place within the pack? I know I am supposed to be the leader but they seem to have established themselves naturally among the three of them.

We have a 1.5 year old intact female german shepherd who is reactive in the car. She will growl and let out alert barks whether she sees a dog or person and sometimes nothing at all (like a bag blowing in the street). My car isn’t big enough for a crate and so we have her tethered to the back seat. I don’t know how to correct her while in the car. I tried using a tin with a couple coins in it, telling her no and shaking it. We tried leave it too. We taught her “down” when we’re in the car and we see a trigger, but its not realistic and if she hears anything she’ll growl while in down position

Hi Robert, does it matter where on the neck the e-collar is positioned (front/side/back)? And also, how much is snug, I never know how much I should tighten the collar. thank you so much.

Hello Robert! No question this week. Just wanted to say that earlier this month there was a large, outdoor event here in Maine. I brought Whiskey (2 yr F GSD) with me. She was SO well behaved. There were many other dogs, some of which were reactive and barked and lunged at her (she was on a leash the whole time) and she never once reacted. Many people stopped and commented what a well behaved, beautiful dog she is. Someone even asked to take our picture, lol. Thank you so much for all the work you do. She is a joy to be with because she is trained. God bless you and Janet, Schmoo and Dwayne.

High reactivity due to long period of antibiotics, Adrenalin addiction, goes from 0-100 upon seeing another dog. Does her chemical problem change anything from your training methods. She is a bullet and has taken me down to the ground face first 2-3 times. She is 44 months old. My other F is 42 months. They are separated as Ani’s adrenalin prompted Zoe to bite in order to stop her craziness.
