I have two malis. The younger is very big and  strong. He’s 16 months old. He is obsessed by balls and toys. With a ball he doesn’t want to give it up. Just holds onto it. With a tuggy he will gradually work his way up grabbing at the tug wildly and once or twice has caught my fingers. That hurts! In all other ways he is great. He knows leave it but doesn’t leave a ball or a tuggy. I’m tempted not to play with balls or tuggies but feel it’s good to play when doing obedience training. This is not a problem I’ve had with any other dog and I’ve had a lifetime of them. Help please! Thanks

I have a 12 week old belgian, I’ve been doing introductions to my family.  My step father while I was holding her first time ever seeing her growled at her and scared her so bad she peed on me instantly. I’m upset because my puppy lost all confidence and hides from everyone including me… it’s there any way to bring her back?  Gain her

confidence?  Incident happened 8/3/24 I’m worried for my children when she gets older… I’d hate to see her end up like Ranger

Hi, so far, training my mal pup (now 12 weeks) has gone text book with one exception. I have a good sized back yard, but not fenced in. so I had to kind of rush the intro to the leash.  I could follow him around the yard for about a week, but quickly, he became too interested in things outside of our yard, so I had to accelerate the leash.  It seems I am building a lot leash resistance.  He fights it a lot and pulls a lot. He fights even gentile /slight leash pressure exercises. Thoughts on trying to start over at this point. I feel I’ve created a big negative when everything else is going well

Looking for advice on a pack and the items that you would put in it if you were to go on a Day hike the things I’m thinking would be first aid kit some type of a sling maybe if something happened to that animal what kind of suggestions do you have what does your day pack consist of when you go on a hike to make sure you’re covered with the things for yourself and for your companion.

hello, is the course on your website from ultimate dog trainer really about everything about a dog. I mean the character, psychology of a dog,..? I would really like to learn more about dogs and why a dog is the way it is or the characteristics of breeds. how best to train or help certain dogs. You inspire me enormously! and I would also like to do something for dogs here in Belgium. The shelters are full, people do not always make an effort to help or understand the dog. One day I want to help with this for the dogs. But I also want to have the right knowledge. Thank you.

Hey Robert,

I’d like to thank you so much for the service you provide. It’s made an unimaginable difference in our relationship with our pups. Our 7 month old silver lab, Maggie, has a complete aversion to stairs. Sarah’s office is on the second story, and hefting her 40+ lbs up and down the stairs has become quite burdensome for her. We assumed Maggie would figure it out, but that’s not the case. We’ve tried treats on consecutive steps and luring with treats in our palm. She’s never brought her back legs onto the first step, though. Is there another approach we can try? Thanks!

Hello cabralians.

I have just started training my malinois on positions while biking, heel, behind, left and right, in front and so on. Behind, in front, heel and down ar coming along. The rest of the commands I have to develop a bit more before I put them to work. I am starting slowly and will increase the speed as we get better. I think of this as high-speed walking just with rotating wheels as a distraction. My malinois can be reactive to wheels but the excitement for obedience training overwrites this. Your tips and insight would be appreciated.

Hey Robert, Kenneth and Gunner here again. Every week I become more and more obsessed with dogs, dog training and particularly scent work. I retire from the navy in a few years and often find myself dreaming about building a facility on 49 acre lot that I’ve never known what to do with. I have no idea what I’m doing and it’s just a dream I think about. My question is do you have any dreams for the future. Of course you do what you do now, and bound angels, but do you ever get that “itch”. Thanks from Florida!

My 1.5 year old male DSH is currently practicing for the BH. In the street part, there is “harassment” (Bedrängen). A group of people are standing around the dog and at the same time they all come very close. When the people come close, my dog does not remain neutral, he keeps focus on me, but growls. He shows no insecurity (although I think this basically comes from insecurity). When I say “Stop it” he becomes quiet. If he behaves neutrally for a short time, I reward him. Question: In this situation, would it be better to give him a ball or prey (both are valuable to him.)

Thank you
