Engaging a Dog with Louis
This is a great short demonstration that shows how easily most any sized person can use their movement instead of strength to control a dog. Sylvia had a hard time controlling this dog because she was relying on her strength instead of movement.
When you understand the idea of movement to help guide the dog, you’ll get a better performance out of the dog as well as your handling.
There’s an old saying, “You turn and either the dog or the dog’s head will follow you.” The truth is that both the dog and his or her head will follow you. When the dog’s head follows the whole dog follows.
