Leave It
The basics of understanding the LEAVE IT command is the foundation to keeping a dog safe. Leave it is a simple command that gives us control over our dogs.
In order to teach the dog the leave it command we must be able to control the dog and reward the dog abundantly for a job well done.
I NEVER allow the dog to have the “LEAVE IT” item, unlike many other trainers. I use physical correction as well as a verbal marker to teach the dog this command.
Why don’t I let the dog just have the treats after the exercise is complete?
