Hi Robert, I’m glad I found you and your way of training. I’m extremely scared of failing my girl Nova. I got her from Irene at Ruidoso. In my opinion she is a lower drive Mal but I’m guessing that could change. Not a great deal of food or toy drive and she does not respond to any rough treatment. That’s where I’m glad to have found you. You taught me the importance of building a relationship with my dog. With that being said we do work. 7 hours of the day she is home alone in the crate. My cousin comes by to let her out in between that time. Will she be ok? Have more questions but no space.

Hi Robert, I have a female Mal 3.5 years old, she in my opinion is fully trained on her basic obedience, focused heal, scent detection. She is not working line, but i love to engage with her, teach her new tricks. She is also offleash (e-collar) trained but my Challenge is when she sees a squirrel or a ball being thrown ESPECIALLY when she is on break. (Please note: I can get her focus while she is training/ engaged). Once she is sprinting behind a squirrel, recall, ecollar stim doesn’t do anything to her, If i increase the stim, she feels but it takes her a few to get back. Please advice. -Mani

Hello, hope all is well! I adopted Thaia 2.5 months ago, she is a Malinois. She is currently in week 3/6 of board and train, at the facility M-F, I pick up Friday, have a class with trainer to learn commands of that week, then incorporate Fri-Sun at home. She is a very confident, friendly high-energetic dog, but I have noticed she shuts down with training. I try to make training as fun as possible, thought she would enjoy the mental stimulation, but it makes me sad her personality is dwindling? or maybe she is just more obedient? Not sure, please help. She even refuses treats with Training??

You answered my question on 4/26 and asked that I update you. My puppy is a 1/2 mali and 1/2 lab but she has an aggressive side whenever she’s told NO/ NO bite. I don’t know her breeder because she’s a rescue. She’s the one who has bitten my granddaughter, who is 4 yrs old. She doesn’t bite aggressively but she bites and won’t let go easily. She does bite me aggressively, growling, shaking her head, barking at me and especially whenever I tell her NO BITE. She even bites my feet and ankles when we are walking if I correct her behavior. She bites my hands if I play with her with my hands.

The recall off leash with your training methods works well on our 5 month old Mali , but sometimes while doing the recall he takes off like a rocket and does not listen to it at all. This happens during training on our 10 acre fenced in property. He does not do that on the long line, only when he is off leash. How can we break this habit? We are in process to fence in a smaller area for training. Thanks for all your help

Hey Robert! So my 2 Australian shepherds now have near perfect obedience. Recall reliably, off leash heel, emergency downs from any distance, etc but im struggling with the adopted aussie with one thing and that is staying within a proximity to me when off leash. He does pretty much everywhere except for when we get on trail, he likes to wander around. I always reward check ins and I always reward when hes in my proximity. What am I missing? Any suggestions? I just don’t want him to wander and take off after an animal and get out of recall range if we’re in a dense area.

Hi Robert. I have a rescue female mal approx 4-5yrs old, unknown background or genetics. She walks nicely on a loose lead or in a basic street heel. But when she gets into a new or high value environment (feed store, home depot) she ignores her leash manners and will pull hard to checkout things she’s interested in. When we go somewhere of extreme value like the dock diving pool or the fields where we play frisbee/ball she’ll pull as hard as possible, even to choking herself. Do you have suggestions on steps to take to teach her to manage her arousal in these situations?

Good morning, my Dutch Shepherd likes to carry her ball with her where ever she goes, by letting her have it all the time will this affect her focus on me when training, as this is what I’m battling with at the moment. Many thanks
