Sometimes it’s important to reflect back to our basics. I do it all the time, in life, personal workouts, as well as my dog training – whether with a client’s dogs or my own dogs.

Today’s lesson deals with those basics on a leash. What leash do I prefer? What leash do I use for what purpose? What’s the best way to hold a leash and so much more.

As I mention in the lesson, there is a good reason to use different tools, namely for different circumstances. I touch on that in this video as well as much more. Sometimes a long line is better than a Flexi, sometimes vis a vis. My favorite leash for walking? I always opt for a 4ft leash, not a 6 ft. But I’ll use a 6ft leash for training?

I think you’ll take a lot away from this lesson, and I think it will be a valuable tool for experienced handlers as well as brand new members. ENJOY!

*** It’s really important that you always check your leash and snap. They can get old and worn out. Just like you hope that a pilot gives the plane a once over before taking off, you should take a quick look at your leash – at least once a week to make sure!

YOUR LEASH COMMUNICATES EVERYTHING FROM YOU TO YOUR DOG IN A NON-VERBAL WAY.
