As with all of our training, there’s always a need to review. I tend to review often with my puppies because that will help them really cement what they know. It also gives me a chance to see what they are remembering and what I need to help them learn better.
Currently, as I write this, I’m sitting in a hotel about 3 miles from where my house stood. We lost our home and everything in it doing the recent fires. Luckily I grabbed my computer, or else there would be no lessons. I have so many lessons saved that it would have been a catastrophe … thanks God I grabbed the computer.
The reason I write this is to show you that even I have emergencies and formal training is not quite possible. For the past few weeks formal training has been tough, although this last week I’ve been back at it. But for two weeks, I had to make do with just a little something here and there. Then when I got back to training, we spend a day or two reviewing what I thought he knew – some things he did – others required some more labor. No problem, that’s all part of the game.
In this video with Ellen and Mellow, Ellen had taken a few weeks off, and you’ll see how quickly Mellow jumps right back into it! This lesson should really help almost everyone who is training their dogs, take your time and always review to make sure you’re on track with your puppy!
By the way, I’m running lesson 7-8 together because of a glitch on day 7!
