No matter how many times you work on the basics, there’s always something to look at. I see this now training my new puppy Schmuley. I look at countless videos, of others and myself and am always able to gain something.
This was Debra and Murrow’s third session and I think they did great. There are a few things to polish up on, but that is always the case. This video should give you all a good encapsulation of common mistakes that you may be making as well. Usually our timing is off and that can lead to a communication breakdown with our dog. I think the most important thing to remember is that training is not something that we do and are done with, instead it’s something we do every day.
I can tell you that with Schmuley, we are only beginning and looking at the very tip of the training and I’ve trained him every single day (sometimes multiple times a day) for over two months. Be very patient with your dog. If you’re like me, then the training is something you absolutely love and look forward to. I did this with Goofy and Maya, there was always something to work on -and I LOVE that!
