Resource guarding is one of the most common behavioral issues that plague dogs. Resource guarding can include “guarding” people, places and things. This behavior is often a death-sentence for dogs in animal shelters.
Resource guarding is a behavior that is often, unknowingly, taught to dogs, and very often made much worse through improper training.
In this lesson / lecture, I address what causes it, managing it, and understanding it. It is a very thorough look at it and it will give you lots of information on dealing with it if your dog has resource guarding issues, and also it will give you very valuable insights on things that can help prevent the behavior from developing in the first place.
