If you’ve been following along on my journey with Schmoo, you’ll really enjoy seeing it coming together a bit here. As with all of my training for sport, I like to go slow. I introduce everything early on and then take quite some time to put the pieces together. As you can see here, Schmoo is over a year old and I’m only now starting to fade lures on the heeling. I want my dog to have all the confidence in the world before I start to make him doubt that there is a reward there.
In this session we touch on a lot of stuff, so it will be a good video lesson for you to see where you might be with your dog / puppy. We’ll touch on the FRONT, the HEELING, HOLD (in preparation for retrieving), speeding up our DOWN / PLATZ and also emphasizing the clean out that we teach without pressure. I will probably end up making a mini-course on teaching the dog to out from puppy on. Stay tuned for that.
