This is a great lesson for anyone who wants to really form a solid communication through training. All too often we are very vague with our dogs. We tell them when things are wrong, by correction, but when the dog is doing something right, they receive no information. Think about that…. The dog is heeling perfectly and you say nothing until you finally reward the dog! So what part of what he is doing is he getting rewarded for? It can be confusing to him.

In this lesson, a two-parter, we cover the importance of reinforcing good behavior and how to properly reward the dog and make communication clear and fair to your dog. This is a very important part of training that is often overlooked. You’ll see the entire training with all the mistakes left in. That is the beauty of the journal series, you see it all. I wish that something like this existed when I started training!

With all the other training I see online, I don’t find the real nuts and bolts like what I show you here. it seems the other people are concerned with their egos, instead of the dog’s wellbeing. These lessons are not professionally shot, it’s just me and my dog. That is where the real learning is. Over editing and over producing educational videos is a detriment to the core principles.. I hope you enjoy these lessons as much as I enjoy training!

In part one of this session I talk about the TONE of your communication, REINFORCING the OUT, FOCUS HEEL, FRONTS, and BARKING. All really good solid basic things…

Then in part two we touch on TUG PLAY, CONTROL, TEACHING OUT, SWITCH on toys and very importantly, HOW TO END YOUR SESSION.

I think this one lesson contains SOO MUCH important information that it could be a game changer!
