Hi Robert, new member, love your site! Piper: 9 months, Malamute/Pit. Owner surrender at 3 months. Loves all people and dogs. Adopted in April. Has puppy energy. Can be stubborn at times. Hope: 2 years, Pit Mix, medium energy. Owner surrender with her sister. In a shelter for 5 weeks, then rescue kennel for 3 weeks. Adopted her 7 weeks ago. No resource guarding, fed in crates, then get along really well. But playing escalates, in my opinion. Once they go on hind legs, (about 3 minutes in) I stop with a firm HEY and stand over them. Then, crates for time-out. Other suggestions?  Thanks!

Hi Robert Janet and the boys! I’ve wanted to ask about how your client Jerome is doing with his handsome boy, Carl? I know is been quite awhile since you did the ecollar training vids with them, but it has been on my mind ever since so I’m finally checking in. You really did a wonderful job helping him out & I’m sure many others learned how all tools have important uses. Thank you for being a force for good in this world. Take care.

We had our first agility lesson and it was great, but at this point George (our 11 month mal) is not fully off leash trained and I am not trusting him 100 % that he is listening, when getting distracted. He is on a leash when training. Is it advisable to have him off leash trained before continuing with agility, what is your advice?

Hi, I am planning to get a german sheperd mostly for home protection as we live in an isolated area but I also want a great companion for my kids and my family, should I get a working line or a show line? Ive heard the working line got tons of energy and needs a lot of physical and mental stimulation and show line is a little mellow compared to the working line. I am weighing between if the working line can be a good pet to my kids or if the show line can be a good protection dog? I have experience of owning 2 Belgian malinois. Thank you

My Anja (Malinois) is 13 weeks old. She’s female. When we walk and other dogs are also waking with their owners, she barks at them. Also, when we walk in the neighbourhood and dogs bark at their gates. In South Africa dogs barking at gates are very common because of security reasons. There aren’t any streets without them. What can I do to stop the barking? I’ve tried distracting and saying no. It’s not working. I’m holding her in position now and wait until she stops pulling and barking. Is this okay? Do you think it will work in the long run?

Blessings, Mr. Cabral. Abraham and I could greatly use your expertise and experience to help safe his life. Abraham is my 8 month old golden. He’s nothing normally. Goes days without good. Vet did various tests, but couldn’t find anything. Please take a few minutes and consider contacting me. My Lord and Savior sent me Abraham to help me with life. I’m a 34yd disabled army vet who’s life has changed drastically for better when I got Abraham. The love and relationship between us is beyond understanding. Thank you for your time, Sir. God bless you and your family. Love what you all do. Thanks!!

Hi Robert. We follow your training ritual (first 30-days) combined with Ziggy’s videos. Fun! Hand/bowl feeding, socialization, 3-4 walks/day, and successful crate training. Still 8 hours in the crate (daytime) to chill/sleep in our living room. We try to let her chill in her bed too. This occasionally works but most often we put her back (crate) after 5 min, since she (12 w old) is too excited/too mouthy and can’t be distracted. Correct that it’s a matter of time (months?) for her to figure it out herself that she must child outside the crate too?  And that there is not much more we can do?

Morning Mr. Cabral congratulations on your induction into the IACP Hall of Fame. My dog dives into certain smells and waddles in them. Normally they’re harmless but every now and then she gets into a smell that’s unpleasant. She loves the smell of cut grass so when they cut the field the walks turn time consuming. Should I keep her more focused on me? What other tips and tricks do you have for thin/short nerve dogs as well.

We had a really great walk session this morning.  My Rottie is now 10 weeks and he’s been really reluctant to go out on leash.  Came back into the house and I was trying to take off his leash but he was biting me and making it difficult.  I bumped into the gate and sent the weight behind it crashing down the stairs scaring him so bad he shot out the door and my husband had to chase him down.  Now he’s sitting in his kennel and isn’t interested in coming out.  I ruined a great moment of leash time and I’m worried he’s going to be scared to go out on walks and of loud noises.  We have to go by the stairs or use them to get in and out of the house for potty training.  This happened right at the door that we have to use

 Help.
