I just got my second Belgian mal and I got him at 14 weeks old. I’ve had him about a week and I’ve noticed he doesn’t seem to like to play with me much. I try to keep everything really animated and fun but he only really seem to open up and play when I get him around other dogs. He kinda plays tug, but gives up fast. He kinda plays fetch but he just doesn’t seem interested. I’m hoping he just spent too much time with his litter and will just take a little longer to accept me as his play friend. Any tips and suggestions to help speed things up would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

Robert, I have a female 4 months malinois puppy and she’s getting very aggressive on the biting, she just does this to me and my girlfriend, never to strangers, we don’t know anymore if she’s playing or she’s really angry or building frustration towards us. We’ve never hit her or anything, these also happens when we are out for a walk and she start biting the leash when you tell her NO! she gets angry and starts biting very very hard. Seems like she’s trying to be dominant. This gets worse at night, before sleep, during the day she’s calmer. We don’t know how to correct at this point. Thanks!

I recently adopted a 3-year old dog and 2 weeks in, at Thanksgiving, she snapped twice at my 7-year old grandson. Afterwards, his parents didn’t want him to be around the dog anymore. The dog never showed any aggression at an adult and is very sweet and calm, albeit a little timid when meeting new people. After some turmoil, we decided to rehome the dog and found her a good home. My question is do you think we could have rehabilitated this dog to the point where she would have been safe around children? Thank you.

Hi Robert, What are your thoughts on owners hiring a dog trainer and then not maintaining the training techniques at home? They may not be firm with corrections or allow their dog to revert to old behaviors, resulting in the dog not being well-trained. How do you encourage owners to stay diligent and consistent with the training methods to ensure their dog remains well-trained? Any strategies to help them stay committed and manage expectations would be appreciated.
