Grace (question accidentally skipped over last video)

Hi Robert & hi Janet. Thanks for the last comment. You’re 200% right about Malinois puppy & my 3 yr old,JR- Daisy I have separate them with inclusion gates and put leash on both of them to manage accidents if any. So far none. Followed your advice to the letter & they are integrating to each other. I had not much sleep or do anything other than managing puppy and my JR Daisy. Crate- it works, p0tty- works, redirecting bite – works. Question is what other play can I do with mal puppy? Grace

My 14-month bc has recently started chasing after animals in the forest. She keeps running away and eventually comes back on a whistle signal. How to work through this behavior and teach her to always stay close and get a more solid recall? We’ve been exercising recall since she was 2 months old and by the last month it worked really well (and it does work outside the forest). Should I step back and always walk her on a long line and correct once she is about to start chasing?

We have a 10 wk old husky/ lab mix. Our training is going well, but mouthing and biting are a problem. We are crate training he rand utilize that often. My question is would a muzzle be a good option to stop her from biting us? It’s more of a problem with my children. We’ve tried ignoring her and redirecting. Probably we will need to be patient.

I have four dogs. Two mals, two working GSDs. If you take one out of the car crates to work them all the dogs still in crates will bark and whine. What is the best way to fix this? Other than this specific circumstance the dogs do not bark in their crates in the house or vehicle. Only if you remove their neighbor to train.

Hi Robert and Janet, I have a 9month old mali and sometimes when I go to the bakery I tie him to a metal post facing the bakery, but he gets extremely anxious and starts whining and pulling, when I get outside I try to calm him with reassuring voice but immediately he tries to nip me, what can I do to make him more comfortable in those situations, thanks!

Mitch

4 month old Mal she’s definitely smart and rambunctious. However, after basic exercise and walks she’s still very rambunctious when training. Jumping, nipping, not staying on place command. I understand she’s a puppy and we don’t wanna break the drive or punish for being a puppy but especially with the place command, even doing the hold back method and letting her sprint to it, she will instantly jump off and not want to go back on unless we start from the beginning even with corrections.

My Puppy is biting. Hard. I know it’s normal for puppies but what do I do when re-directing her does not work. If I crate her she cries and cries. If her crate is open, she wanders in willingly but does not like being confined. Is it ok to crate even if she cries?

I am currently doing some basic obedience or walk in a park while dogs in the area. (Other dogs is his ultimate distraction where he barks loud and tries to lunge at them) I am using a choke chain as a correction tool with a long leash.

If i command him to a down, and does not comply I correct him, however sometimes he complies and while in a down position he will still be barking. Should I correct and command the down even while he is in a down position and barking until he gets quiet?

We have been working with a Doberman rescue agency since last ~September for a second dog to go with our male Lab. They now have a 1 year old female Dobie available that they think would be a good fit for us. We have accepted her to foster and later adopt if it works out. Do you have any advice on bringing a new dog into our home? Also, when would you advise starting to train her?

Sandra

Hi Robert! Last time I took your advice it worked out wonderfully! My Mal is generally very happy and loves people. At night, when I can tell he is overly tired I start to see a shift in his personality. If we try to get him to move off his cot and into his crate he will growl and sometimes lunge. My question is, how do I stop this? I am the one who places him on his cot in the first place. I didn’t know if this was a sign of dominance again or resource guarding. Thank you in advance.

Long time no questions, Buoy is doing great, thanks. First off, the Top-Matic toys are awesome. Our focused heeling and releases have hit a huge level up. I am so proud of this rescue(ACD mix) and her ability for this work.

At 20mo should I expect her prey drive to settle with age? We have made a ton of progress with dog reactivity, she is fine near cars, people etc, but critters ALWAYS get her dancing. I can call her back(she is on a leash) and work trough it, but seems like every time.

First question is I have a 7-month-old Australian Shepherd female that spayed and has reverted back to peeing in the house at 7 months old can’t seem to break her? Thinking maybe they did something during surgery I read something about spayed dogs sometimes have problems.

Other question is I have a two and a half month old malinois beagle mix that has all of a sudden started getting aggressive just out of the blue gets an attitude and then you tell him he cops an attitude. Thanks for your time…

Hi Robert, your videos are incredible! Our 11 mth old female gsd Cheeky has benefited a ton already. She occasionally does something bad around the house, jumping on the bed or couch without invitation. I correct her verbally followed by getting her off basically by pushing her. I’d rather physically correct her with a leash pop or whatever else you recommend. I’ve heard of the fur saver and figure with a 6 inch leash attached she could wear it all the time. Does that work?

Wondering about prong procedure (6mo mal/gsd mix girl)… I’ve learned from your videos that we should not crush drive, but is there a balance that is recommended between crazy pup fun and well mannered pup? For instance, we’ve been practicing the prong/leash pressure in the driveway and she seems different, like less sassy, which is good and yet strange… she also squeaked when she ran toward a smell and the prong corrected her; is this normal? I don’t want to strain our relationship.

Rescue pit mix 14 months.

Walkers Joggers other dogs pass our fence every day.

Remi will bark/growling at certain people. If they have a dog she’s fine with them.

I’ve tried desensitized, stopped her free roam to back yard. I’ve tried rewarding when she’s redirected.

I use the firm NO she knows it she will stop and come back as soon as she she’s me. None of this as put a stop to it. If I’m not in site she will do it.

Hello Robert & Janet. Thanks for your hard work for supporting all dog owners. I am on my hands & knees but I am enjoying the process. I follow your advice to the letter and it’s harder than infants! Babies keep their pee & poop inside the diaper & Mal -NO. I take out my Mal puppy for potty 8 times a day and feed him small amount 5 times a day. How long should I stick to this schedule? Thanks.

What age should I consider neutering my young malinois – no issues now – but daycare center prefers it.

Ive asked before about training my anatolian with an ecollar to leave neighbors mal alone.Had good progress. Today a neighbor, kids, stranger, and dog came right up to the fence to see my dog.Neighbor alone has never even been this close before.I looked just in time to see my dog explode. Security footage shows he was calm until the dog lingered too close for too long.Luckily a fence was there. Will this situation set back my dog?I wanted him to ignore the mal for good but worried it wont ever happen now.
