Hi Robert. I have 8 YO GSdD.I worry everyday that if something sick and able to get to the vet. She’s 97lb . I won’t be able to pick her into my car. Is it okay to call the fire dept or call 911? SHES ON a diet and we take regular basis. Since she just turned 8, we practice going up and down a ramp for my car.what if she can’t walk at all. We walk on a regular basis but I want to prevent hip problems. If she can’t walk at all, what’s your advice. Would it be alright or the fire department?if I have to, I’ll purchase a wheelbarrow to the vetl barrel and run 1O blocks if necessary.

Hi Robert,
We are excited to welcome our Malinois puppy this week. I had an amazing one before using your training methods. He was definitely a one man dog though. Getting the new pup with my partner and I would love any tips on how to make sure the dog bonds and responds to both of us. Splitting up training and time spent equally is the obvious one. Any other do and don’t pointers or ideas? Is it inevitable that he will eventually choose a “primary” human?

Halo Robert with family. I have brought up a few litters over the years, (Siberian huskies and Alaskan huskies). This summer I maybe have the opportunity to work with a litter of malinois puppies. At the kennel I work the next litter of puppies are going to be a5 so we have some experience with huskys. This is something I am going to do in cooperation with a experienced malinois breeder. If you was to buy a malinois from this litter what would be things you would want me to do with the puppies. I feel I am in safe hands together with my breeder but your insight would be appreciated.

I have an 8 month old German Shepherd puppy. Hes sharp with obedience and basic manners, except for his initial reaction to seeing family members, especially myself. When he sees me whether it’s pulling him out of the crate or walking through the doorway, he goes into a manic state. Excited wouldn’t describe it. he jumps up, nips, and whines for about 1 minute straight. From the day I got him, Ive tried the ignore technique religiously and now I’ve begun kneeing his sternum but he isn’t getting it. Im not so concerned about myself but other family members he can hurt. Suggestions?

I listened to your advice on the leash biting as my puppy is very aggressive towards her leash. She bites and thrashes with it making walking her very unpleasant. I soaked her leash in tabasco sauce like you recommended to another member but she seemed to like it. I kicked it up a notch and decided to try something hotter and went up to ghost pepper sauce. It doesn’t phase her. All it does it make her lick her lips a little bit. It’s like she’s related to us or something because our family loves hot peppers. What else can I do with this girl? She She will be 16 weeks old this Saturday.

Zazz (~3 yr. Staffie-mix) was depressed in the shelter and has taken a long time settling in (it’s been 6 months), but she’s really starting to blossom. We’ll be starting group training in 2 weeks with a local trainer who has excellent reviews from people with higher-drive and larger dogs. I think we’re ready for this. We did a rattlesnake avoidance training a month ago in a group of 20+ people and their dogs, and she was anxious at first, but settled down after a while Do you have some advice on preparing for this next step?

When taking our 5 month Mal on 20 min walks on long line, he is all over the place on the beginning. I watched all the loose leash training videos, if he pulls in one direction I go to the other side, and eventually he walks a few steps nicely , which I praise him for and then he wears off again. Do I just keep repeat the turning until he eventually understands to walk on a loose leash, or can I let him go ahead off me on a long line (off course without pulling) or will this confuse him. Should loose rein walking by enforced 100 % on a puppy, I think I let him get away with it once in a while.

My 3 year old GSD bitch will squat and urinate on the carpet in front of me. What would you do to stop this behaviour?
