Hi Robert, I have a 15-week-old Mal I’ve had since 10 weeks. She lures well into sit, down, stand, and heel, but struggles with going between my legs, etc—she anticipates my moves and won’t follow the lure unless my hand gets really close, then gets frustrated and bites. Also, she’s extremely bitey all the time—very confident. How can I get her to follow the lure better when she anticipates, and also how can I redirect the biting without suppressing her drive?

Hello, I have a 5 month old Malinois puppy that became very reactive to dogs and people so socializing is difficult. We are watching all of your videos and understand the going away and re-introducing to the trigger but in the case the triggers are people walking, running and he goes wild barking, the back back hair goes up, we are working daily on obedience and he is great with commands and learning to re-focus on us however the reactivity/aggression to people is something that really has us worried. How could we manage that better? We want to go for a hike/walk without him lunging at people

Dear Robert, As per your recommendation, I recently purchased Ultra Plus training collar w/ center plate assembly, 3mm short version, BLK I have 2 others H.S. prongs.lBoth have either a snap or a clip so it can be taken on and off easily. I just received the new one but there’ nothing to easily take it on/off without pulling it over my GSD’s big head.. The only way to open it up will be undoing links each time and that’s not going to work. I’ve examined the new collar carefully but I found no opening. Am I missing something? Thanks to you and Janet; I hope you start settling into your home.

Hi Robert, I wanted to ask for a quick piece of advice. My 4-month-old Malinois learned the “down” command early on, but he does it in a very relaxed way — flops to the side like he’s resting. I tried to correct the behavior, but I couldn’t get the result I wanted, so I decided to teach a more formal version using the German command “Platz”. After weeks of working on it, he still doesn’t seem to understand what I’m asking. Would you recommend continuing with the new command, or is there a better way to fix the one he already knows? I’d really appreciate your insight.

We have been getting mixed answers on how to socialize our Bel Mal with people, should we let them pet him, or just expose him to people without touching. I am not talking about friends, more like in public, when people are asking to pet him. He is not afraid of people or reactive. Will just exposing him to different people be enough to avoid fear aggression in the future, or do people actually need to touch the dog. Also wondering with children. Thanks

New pup is almost 11 weeks old…older dogs 7 yo female 10 yo male… pup jumping on them all the time and they growl buy won’t correct him. Would rather avoid. How do I resolve this… never had this problem before and have always had 2 or 3 at a time. Keep pup restricted to leash so older ones aren’t pushed past their limit. I believe 7 yo would willingly play if pup wasn’t jumping I’m her face but I’m at a loss here… tried scriffing but one thing I may have done wrong is chastise 7 yo female when she nose-bumped pup several times… maybe I should have let that go but pup was too new.

Hello Robert, On a walk my Rescue Malinois of 6 1/2 years old will lunge at fox, (of course) and if she feels challenged by another dog will lunge as well. I know this can be typical with a high prey drive dog such as the Malinois. Layla is not my first as I had another but from a pup. I’ve only had this dog for a week now. I hand feed and beginning the “look” exercise. Do I just do basic loose leash or is there something else I can do like no long walks and just “business” walks. She’s really cool at home no issues. Outside it’s game on!
