We have 2 Griffs that are still working on upland bird training. In California, things are a little trickier than other states as far as places to practice hunting skills. But we are members at 2 hunt clubs now, which makes it a little easier. Just expensive! Plus birds aren’t wild so they are usually not very quick to fly which leads to dogs not learning to steady very well! Lol

My Toby…TobyTobe…Tobilicious…The Tobester…Tobediah or my WuverPuppy. He is the one in the middle. Cyrus on the right & Dusty on the left. The 3 Banditos, Muskateers, etc. Lol…though I am pretty sure when we brought home the 2 pups, Toby had very different names for them. He was literally the dog that anyone who wasn’t a “dog person”, decided they liked him, but swore he wasn’t like other dogs. And they were right about that. He was the best dog & friend anyone could ask for. Smart, funny, loyal, loving..just hella cool. He was 12. It’s been since Aug 2018 and I still get choked up just typing this. I mean literally choked up to where it isn’t easy to breathe or speak or swallow. Took me a year to even try to talk about his passing. Guess that is how you know you had one of the greats, when there are no words to describe them. Miss him more as time goes on. But Dusty & Cy are only 3 1/2 yrs old, and keep us focused on them for sure! We still have plenty of adventures ahead. They are good boys…mostly. Lol

It is hard for many to understand the deep sense of loss many of us feel when our dogs pass away. But here, in this membership, we all know how strong the bond is & can understand the grief. It’s the one downfall dogs have, they don’t live as long as our love for them does. These pictures are lovely & show us how magnificent June-bug was. Be grateful for the time you had & for the chance to love such an amazing creature. They say time heals all things. Give time some time. Take care.

This reply is a bit late, but I have to share that your pain in losing your dog is something most of us here understand. Glad to know you are back in the group & have a new dog to cherish & train!
