The PLACE command is a very valuable asset in your dog training repertoire. It’s not a difficult thing to teach, but adding a second dog makes it much harder.
Last week’s online dog training lesson showed you the finer points of the PLACE command with Duane and some good techniques to teaching it to your dog. I’ve taught the place command to almost every dog I’ve trained including many shelter dogs. I have a couple of videos out that touch on it, but in these 2 videos (last weeks and this weeks) we really delve into it.
This weeks lesson really adds much more details than last week’s. This lesson adds the ultimate distraction, a second dog. Now, neither of these two are perfect in their obedience, so they are the best for you to watch.
In this lesson you’ll see all the mistakes and issues that are bound to arise when teaching this. If you don’t have two dogs, maybe you can borrow one from a friend ????
Working with multiple dogs really ups your game and I rarely show these lessons, because my goal is to help you get one of your dogs trained at a time. But with the Safer at Home orders here in the US as well as for many of you around the world, I thought it would be fun to up the game a little.
