One of the most common things I am asked is ,”What dog food do you feed your dog?” Although I opt for a primarily raw or home made diet, there are several off-the-shelf dog foods that I will work into my dog’s diet.
Those store bought dog food brands currently include Ziwi Peak, Stella & Cheweys and Addiction. I will not feed kibble if at all possible because the process of extruding the kibble kills most nutrition and has been shown to release carcinogens into the food. Ziwi Peak is an air dried food and S&C is a freeze dried food. Brace yourself, they are expensive, but well worth it.

My personal favorite home made recipes include raw;
• Venison
• Bison
• Lamb
• Rabbit
• Tripe
• Chicken Backs
• Lamb and some fish- particularly Sardines.
I always include plenty of fresh organic veggies including Kale, Broccoli, Zucchini, Cauliflower, Beans, Brown Rice, supplements, turmeric, fish oil and more.
You can read the ingredients on the picture above.
What I find important is not always feeding your dog the exact same thing and getting him hooked on one source of protein. The main ingredient people feed their dogs is chicken. Not sure why that is so popular, but it is.
One thing I like to be sure of is that my dog gets used to different proteins, this will keep him more flexible on his diet. And I believe that adding veggies to the mix has a lot of health benefits. I use only organic veggies, but you may choose not to.
