Transition from prong collar to flat

Hi all. I started using prong collar to train loose leash walking and fix some reactivity stuff. Can I transition to flat collar when I saw that dog is waling nicely and reactivity issues go away? Does transition is possible or I should stick with prong collar? How to make that transition?

Thanks for any reply and greetings for Poland 🙂

PS. Sorry for my english. It isn’t my native language

I have used the prong collar on my dog to teach loose leash walking, etc. Lately I’ve switched to using a Martingale just to alternate the tool and he’s doing well. If you teach the desired behavior, the collar used is just a tool and shouldn’t be the only reason the dog does what you want (e.g. not react). If you vary what you’re using and get good results with each type of collar it’ll mean the dog understands the acceptable behavior and isn’t just obeying because of the prong collar.

Try alternating between prong/flat collars randomly and slowly phase out the prong collar if you don’t want to continue using it. If your dog still shows any signs of reactivity though, best to use the prong almost full time.
