For anyone that has recently adopted a small puppy especially 8/10 weeks or considering, I think that these two articles are must read. Both pertain to the “Critical Socialization Period” for puppies. I read these articles a few years go and I would think they were published well before then. 1) A Letter on Puppy Socialization from Dr. R.K. Anderson, DVM, 2) American Veterinary Society of Animal Behavior Position Statement On Puppy Socialization. At the time these findings were published there was debate among different segments of the dog world. However, now it is my understanding the vast majority of Vets, Trainers, Behaviorists and dog lovers are in favor of these puppy socialization findings. These articles are an great read for anyone but I just posted in the puppy section because it pertains to puppies.
