I’ve watched the crate training videos and am just a little bit confused. In puppy training videos Robert mentions several times that a new puppy spends a good amount of time in the crate; time out, through the night, while being introduced to an existing dog in the household, etc.
In the crate training video he says it might take a couple days before you should actually latch the door, in order to keep the dog from getting upset and feeling trapped.
My question is – how do I crate my new puppy overnight, or to separate from our other dog, if the door shouldn’t be latched right away? She doesn’t seem to mind the crate so far, but I have to be in the same room or she will start whining and trying to get out.
