Hey Robert, I have a 7 month old Belgian Malinois that likes to jump up on me, and in my face when he’s highly aroused but I noticed him showing me teeth while barking.. he’ll even go as far to jump up at my face and air snap sometimes. I’m not sure if I should correct this don’t want to squash him and I don’t know if he’s trying to dominate me or just rough play. He’s very high strung but our training is going well watching your courses! Thank you so much 🙂

My dogs behavior dramatically change when he has a muzzle on. I started a muzzle training with him when he was around 4 months old, with lots of treats, but he did not like it. Now when I show up the muzzle he starts running away (it is the same with a harnes), through obedience I put muzzle on, give him treats and do what is needed. He starts pushing his head towards everything, he lies down, his body language is sad, he does not take treats. How can I change it and make him accept the muzzle?

Hello!  I’ll be taking my Mal Lily back to the vet in late November for her yearly checkup, rabies shot, etc. She’s often stressed about it but I don’t want it to get worse. Do you have any tips on how I can make it less stressful since we don’t go very often?

The vets are great/understanding with her and they say she is very good when she is kenneled (during COVID when we weren’t allowed inside) but she shuts down when we’re in the exam room.

Thank you!

Hi Robert! I’m dealing with leash reactivity with my dog and it is slowly getting better but recently my dog stopped responding to my corrections on the martingale collar. It seems like they make it a little worse actually. Should I switch to a slip lead? Unfortunately all other types of collars are banned in my country (Austria). Thank you for the awesome content!

In the past 2 months I’ve noticed a regression in some of his most worrisome behaviors namely over protection from some people approaching me or from behind at night. Some are staring at him out of fear, or walking hesitantly, others no reason at all. He has been very good so I didn’t need to stim for the past three months except for occasional outbursts.

Could this be due to not using the ecollar consistently? Or is it just a genetic/hard wired problem that can only be managed. Thanks much.

Male A 2.5 yr. old sired male B 1.5 yr. old & male C is littermate of male B. We have had A since 8 weeks old, B&C were born in home. B&C have the same mother but we had two males at the time and they both got to her. After DNA testing, it was confirmed that male C is 1/2 Pit Bull. 2 Months ago, A&C began fighting aggressively. It’s clear that they are both dominant and I seem to be the trigger. We have kept them separated, training, more walks, equally divided attention but its not working

I just watched your fear-based video as I have a shelter pup who has some fear aggression toward people. He does not bark or lunge just growls. His growling is a form of communication. I was told by a trainer not to correct growling do you agree? He is a 90 lb American Bully. It is very hard to ask people to help me with him as most are very fearful of him which is a little counterproductive as he has learned that growling will keep people away. Thanks

Hi Robert, I just want to thank you for sell your training. My question is I have a 10 month old German Shepherd and at feeding time I won’t place her bowl down until she sits ,( she caught on to that pretty quickly) she then looks at me until I give her the OK to eat, a lot of people tells me that is cruel, Am I wrong for teaching her this?

David C

Robert, I was raising a Black GSD and he was 10 months old. He stopped eating and couldn’t poop. I took him to my regular vet and they recommended I take him to an emergency vet. After x-rays they saw what looked like he may have eaten something and scheduled surgery. It was a tumor that had grown in his stomach and invaded his colon. It was inoperable. Needless to say we had to put him down. My question is how long before we get another GSD?

Lee

In many of the videos, you say all corrections should happen at a distance from you, and only good things happen close to you. In some of your videos, however, like if the dog does not sit, you correct him at a very close distance with a leash pop. What is the nuance to that?
