I’m getting an 8 week old gsd puppy on 5/16, do you have any lessons on your member channel to help me do it correctly?

it is important for me to hear your opinion about this practice: my3 yr ridgeback. reactivity towards other dogs on leash. As soon as he sees a dog and in the first stage he starts to get excited or build I mark this and if he looks at me he gets natural cookies. If he continues to build I change directions with fast motion until he calms down. If he start to explode I mark with “no” and correct leash pup and try to return to the stimulus and repeat the process. What do you think?

Hi Robert- I have an 18 month old English Lab. We thought we wanted him to sleep on the bed with us. So we bought some steps and trained him to get up gently. The problem is he kept coming up and down as he pleased all through the night waking us up. So now he is back to sleeping in the crate at night in our room which he does fine with. Is there any way now to reverse this training and teach him not to get up on the bed at night? I would like him to sleep on the floor with us. Remove steps?

I have 3 dogs. My German Shepard plays good with my mastiff and has good obedience, however if my lab is off the couch he goes after her to attack? They use to play great.

I have a somewhat silly question. When my dog chooses to go to his ‘place’ on his own accord, must he still stay there until I release him from his place?

Dear Robert. I live in Switzerland where ecollars are prohibited. I still wanted to get your insight on ecollars with fearful dogs. My dog (5 years) has been with me for 4 years. After many trainers, she is still insecure, goes into the leash and barks at every strangers. She does not bite but it looks scary, and our neighbors / people in general avoid us. I read that ecollar could make the problem even worse, and she could be even be more stressed. What are your thoughts? Thank you, Bea

My puppy is 8 months old. I am working with her on recall, and she has made progress. However, she is definitely not a hundred percent consistent yet, especially when she is headed towards something that she wants or is on the hunt/scent:) my sister thinks I should use a correction/shock collar to train consistent recall. What do you think of shock collars? How do you recommend training 100% consistent recall? Should my puppy already have that down? What should I expect at that age? Thanks!

I’ve watched many of your YouTube videos, and I love the love and respect you show/receive in the relationship with your dogs. Until recently, I didn’t understand the use of prong collars. I thought that they were used as a source of punishment, but now I see that when used correctly, it is not for hurting the dog. Can you explain in more detail when to use the Martingale versus the prong? Or if you’ve already explained this, please direct me to that info. Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
