We just rescued a Heeler/Border Collie mix who is supposed to be about a year old. Now vet thinks Heeler/Mal. He’s SO hyper. We walk him. He plays non stop with our Doberman and GSD mix. We take him swimming where he can run in open areas for hours. He could care less for toys. Before we took him he’d lived his whole life chained up and didn’t have a name. Any ideas to calm him down and stop the constant jumping. It’s almost impossible to get his attention when he’s jumping. He’ll sit for about 3 seconds and then jump to lick your face. Love him to death but he’s nuts 🙂

When a family member (dog or human) passes away, should a surviving dog be shown the deceased’s body so that they know what has happened? And they can grieve and have an answer as to where their loved one went?

I have a small dog mixed breed. she is from the shelter. she is very friendly and gets on with other dogs. My boyfriend has a bull massive and never been socialized when i take my dog there. The bull massive lunges towards Oreo and fixates on her. She gets a bit nervous. The bull massive is also a female. I have been told this is never going to work to get them together. Other problem is my dog has separation anxiety.

Hey Robert! What’s your take on when dogs bare teeth or snarl when being groomed? Archie is a 23 pound 2-year old male Cockapoo. I give him treats before and after he gets brushed. But during the brushing he will snarl or snap if I need to work through some tangles. When he does that I just tell him to “no” (which makes him calm down a bit) and keep going. Should I be doing things differently? He is a small dog with a soft mouth, and we play rough, so I’m not concerned about being injured or anything. I cut out his matting and knots, so they aren’t an issue. Everything else with him is great.

I live in a complex. My yard has a fence and I have tried everything. My dog barks at people, cars and other dogs over the fence. She also tries to attach other dogs from the fence. She only does this in the fence. I try and scream and shout to get her to come inside. She won’t come and when she runs up and down. I battle to catch her.

Hi Robert. My new pacemaker has enabled me to return to my 1 hour desert walks. Maggie is just as happy and is perfect with her commands. She is on a light stim for directions. My problem is in our house. I should say her house. All commands fall on deaf ears. Should I use the eCollar indoors? I usually have a bark collar on because of her constant barking at dog commercials or street traffic. Thank you.

Hi, when I let dogs out for lose play time at the shelter, how would you work on jumping up. Some of the dogs are very stressed, so it’s a panic jump and others are just all over you. I work with these dogs on leash also, simple obedience, out on our walks and most do not jump up then. They are behaved. Thank you for your help!
