Vegetables for Dogs

Some of My Dog’s Favorite Vegetables

I like to add fresh, organic vegetables to my dog’s raw food diet.

Here I share with you some of my favorite vegetables for dogs, especially the ones my dog loves.  Kale and celery are among our favorites.  I also like to add a little parsley among other healthy veggies from the farmer’s markets.  I find putting the veggies in the food processor and chopping them up makes it easier for the dog to chew, consume and digest.  Some people like to lightly “flash steam” the vegetables.  You can do this by boiling them for 1 1/2 to 3 minutes depending on the vegetable.

There are a host of vegetables that dogs love and provide health benefits for them.  I believe that a raw diet should include vegetables and carbohydrates.  If you can’t take the time to prepare veggies for your dog, look into the Honest Kitchen brand of dehydrated vegetable mix.  You just add protein and water and it’s ready to go.

Take a look at my other posts where I mention other veggies I like to add.  There aren’t that many veggies that aren’t good for your dog.  Most of the green vegetables will give your dog extra vitamins that he needs.  Be careful adding to many carrots as they are high in their glycemic index which means more sugar for your dog.
