Hi Robert, I have a 2year old Cocker Spaniel/Malinois mix (with a pinch of GSD). I haven’t been structured in my training until now and want to change that. Nina learns fast and I always stopped training when she worked, but before it became really ingrained. We need to work on lose leash walk, recall and being neutral when meeting dogs and people. I live in a very touristy, crowed place. How do I structure my walks with her best? E.g. when we have done 15min of lose leash training, do I continue walking without insisting on it or do I go back home? I only have public places to train outdoors.

How to help somebody’s malinois, male, 7, unnurtured, all days along in a small yard, out with owner just 10 min – morning and 10 min – evening. With owner permission I can take this dog out any time. I am trying to help and give him freedom and love, taking him every day for an hour or 2. Within few months we have built very good connection and trust. The difficulty is walking without pulling! He used to this as from the start I wanted to give him freedom and let to sniff a lot. But I understand he needs a structure. What i can do to teach him not to pull and at the same time give freedom? TY

I have a Pomeranian who bites her owner. I’ve noticed that the owner has been too soft on the dog, so I advised her to be firm and provide corrections when necessary. The biting often happens when the dog is reactive to people or resource guarding.
Now, the dog is boarding at my house. When her reactivity triggers, is it appropriate to bump her on the side as a correction? I saw this technique in a video on social media and tried it—it works, but is it the right way to correct her behavior? I’m worried about getting bitten if I grab her by the scruff of the neck.
