I’ve seen a lot of different answers and I was wondering what is the correct amount and frequency of feeding. I’ve read that a german shepherd needs to grow slow and steady to avoid problems on the joints. Also should I give water to the puppy when he wants or only during meal time? I’m a new dog owner and people have different views on the matter. Wondering what’s right and what’s wrong. Thanks! If there is a video where Robert addresses frequency of feeding in puppies and drinking, please let me know!

Per my breeders guidance I started out feeding my GSD 1 cup kibble 3x a day (from 8 weeks). She is now 4.5 months and I’m still feeding 3x day but will probably transition soon to 2x. She still gets a cup at each meal but also additional kibble (1\2 c – 1 c) sometimes treats, banana, peanut butter in Kong etc. throughout day with training \ rewards. So I too am wondering if this is appropriate ? She is now 37 lbs and slim but not scrawny. As for water, always available (except in early days I did cut off around 7pm until morning)
