Picking up new puppy and how to manage long car ride home
I am picking up my new puppy in a few weeks and the breeder is located 6 hours from my home. When I pick up the puppy, Is it recommended that the puppy travel in the crate and let him cry it out the entire ride home( with frequent potty breaks)?
I worry that by placing the pup in the crate, he will immediately associate a negative feeling with the crate before I have a chance to introduce him in a positive manner. I have crate trained all my dogs in the past but most of my dogs have been from local breeders or flown into my city for a shorter commute to my home.
