i’d love to talk about personal protection training too but i don’t think @robert would allow this here.
@alin could you please clarify this for us? Thank you

I don’t think it’s a problem at all. Robert has no issue with people talking about protection, it’s in the description of the group that he wrote.

Robert just isn’t comfortable teaching protection work in his lessons. He would much rather have people train in person with a professional trainer.

I believe @maligatormom has experience in personal protection work with her dogs. Maybe she can chime in.

i was hoping to be able to learn from here. maybe post videos of the steps i’m doing and have someone (an expert) analyze and make corrections.

I think we will need a little time for the community forums and groups to grow some before we will have a good amount of people who are able to give this type of feedback.

Robert and myself have had conversations about giving special mod access and roles to experienced trainers that he trusts on the site so they can give advice and be able to promote their services and have a special icon next to their name for people to easily identify them.

I also would love to make sure I know the basics of protection training myself but I can see how it can be a slippery slop that will cause a lot of issues to the dog if done wrong. I will keep hassling Robert for a basic Intro to Protection training lessons. If I poke him enough, he might bite on the idea.

          Here’s hoping!

          Hey there!

I have three Belgian Malinois and I work with a professional trainer in-person to achieve this. This is a very specialized training and I don’t think it can be properly or safely taught through videos. Just my two cents. 😉
