Tilly gets excited and bites on her collar every time I put it on her and once outside she bites it, walks behind me and I have tried to get her attention but then she growls at me. How can I get her to pay attention to me without ripping the leash out of her mouth? Any suggestions would be great. She is a deaf Australian Shepherd and she is 18 weeks old.

I want to Start training other dogs other than my own, and I’m considering becoming a volunteer trainer at a local shelter. What skills should I have before applying?

Greetings from Germany Robert! We had a lot of problems with our lab eating stuff he wasn’t supposed to eat. A few pooped out stones and Sauerkraut-Sessions later this problem got way better. Currently I am training him with your leash training method also presented in the most recent video. How do I correct him when he goes for stuff on the ground/sniffs excessively? I shouldn’t correct him close to me I assume, but letting him eat up a lot of “belly” enables him to pick sticks etc.

Hi I’m a new member, I was a K9 handler as a former police officer. I wasn’t given the Belgian Malinois as a 9 week old puppy. I brought home my 9 week old Malinois and I have tried everything in the videos for him to get in the crate and like being in the crate, I’ve tried treats, food , toys etc. He will go in the kennel when I put his food there but as soon as he’s done he will get out and not want to get back inside. I would like to know if there is anything else he’s 11 weeks old now.

When my dog grabs an item he knows he should not have, and I call him to me. Instead of obeying and coming to me, he decides it’s time to play keep away. He is so happy and bounces around. I give him a firm command but what he has in his mouth is more important and runs away happily. My husband can tell him to sit and he will and will drop the item. It’s frustrating and not safe for my dog.

Thank you for your help.

Hi Robert, I’m moving into a new house with Hendrix my 3 year old, Male, Kelpie/Mal cross. The new property is 5 acres and fenced with barbed wire. He’s very good and shouldn’t stray off the property but how do I teach him to avoid trying to run through the barbed wire?

My GSD is dog reactive and I heard that playing with a dummy or throwing balls increases his prey drive and is negative for our training. Should I play differently with a reactive dog or should I continue to use your playing method? 2. When a dog walks behind us, my dog keeps turning around and looking at the dog. I stay calm, go straight ahead and correct him at the end of the leash so that he comes back to me (your method), but he repeats it often. Should I do sth. different (Saying “off” etc)?

Hello Robert,

I’ve just watched this video “Aggressive Malinois x Dutchie Training”, and at the end you say that wearing a harness is the worst thing he could do. That made me wonder why?

I own a 5 month Malinois (Simba) and I’ve been using a martingale collar for training and walks. He gets a bit reactive around other dogs but not with my other dog. I’m still working on that.

So, I’ve recently bought him a harness and I would like to understand the reasons, before I put it to use and regret later 🙂

My GSD puppy just turned 10 months old and he simply refuses to eat. We have been to the vet and we do suspect there is some bloating and or gas issues and even prescribed meds for it. But that is something he simply cannot be facing everyday even after taking his meds, it has to be a behavioral issue.

He used to go crazy for kibble when younger but around 5 months of age he had a tick bite, lost all appetite, almost vomited his guts out, had bloody diarrhea and was on IV treatment for 6 days before regaining his health and appetite, we were sure we would lose him but he fought back. But since then his relationship with food went sideways. We have tried changing kibbles, switched to home cooked food, tried making mealtime exciting and the opposite where we enforced structure around meal time nothing works. I don’t trust the produce from the wet market enough to feed him raw. Maybe hot weather (its India) is an issue as well but he stays in at daytime, AC on mostly.

I simply give his food in his bowl at mealtime and he will just go and lie down somewhere else. I have to now almost scold him and use a stern voice to make him eat. 70% of the time it is like this and the rest times he eats it on his own. But the times he is eating it on his own I have to offer him a toy to eat, he plays a little then eats a little till the bowl is empty. I have to do that the times when he is reluctant to eat as well. I feel I shouldn’t but I am afraid if he doesn’t eat enough it will harm his development. He is not underweight but he is on the skinnier side. Tried skipping meals but skipped meals just stays skipped. And starving him well just breaks my heart and I feel bad while having my meals. What can I do to solve this? Thanks for bearing with this long question but these meal times are just mentally exhausting for me.
