PLEASE HELP! My 2yr old male Red Doberman (not neutered) just attacked my husband out of nowhere with no warning or anything… My husband was sitting on the couch like normal, I believe he had an oinkey chew treat in his mouth. My husband went to pull his arm up from petting him to grab his drink then out of nowhere he attacked his arm. Cut deep, couple puncture wounds and drew a lot of blood. My husband wants to put him down and I need help fast! What do I do?!😢

I have a 2 1/2 year old Aussie whom I have trained in agility. We have a very close relationship and play fetch and tug many times throughout the day. He is toy and food motivated. My question is that when we enter the agility ring, he is reluctant to play and sometimes wanders off or visits the judge or bar setters. I’ve tried getting him more excited before we go in the ring, I’ve tried giving him praise as he runs and many times we run the course clean but are over time.

I have a 3 year old German Shepherd/Malinois mix named Evie who is overreacting when my girlfriend takes her out. When we go out together Evie obeys me, doesn’t growl at strangers and is no problem on the leash. When my girlfriend takes Evie out, she growls at strangers, kids, pulls on the leash, doesn’t listen to any commands and is out control. She has been following the same training program as me but it is not working. Do you have any suggestions?

My dog does not hear when I call her back. She loves to grab to mice and she hears me, but everything is more interesting than I. I can call her, ring with my keys, etc. She is grabbing for minutes without looking where I am. After a long time, when SHE decided to come, she is not focused on me, while coming to me, she looks the left and right, to find anything more interesting things. Also with a long lash (when she is nearby me)mshe does not hear. Except I have very good biscuits or cheese.

Lab/Pit 6 yrs 75lbs Large apt complex with two fenced dog run’s, using the distance method to help my very excitable dog. Since he was young he’s been crazed to meet other dogs and when I wouldn’t let him he became reactive. This scenario is the ultimate distraction for him. I bring him up to the fence and he is fine meeting dogs through the fence though still hyper. I don’t intend to let him in with the other dogs though some he knows, is this flooding him too much.

I feel bad for him. THX

I just wanted to use my weekly question to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. Devi, my 12 week old Mal means everything to me and without you I would not be able to give her the best and she deserves the very best, that’s you.

I will be paying the yearly membership but that doesn’t seem to be everything you deserve. Do you have a donate to the cause as well.

Take care my friend.

Aloha Robert I really appreciate your content, it has helped me so much in raising and mentoring my 2 month old Belgian Malinois. My question is, what is a safe age for my Malinois to begin Agility Training?

Thank you, Duke.

Should I limit the amount of water a puppy drinks? 11 weeks old he will drink the entire bowl each time I put it down.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Cabral, Thanks for all of your help so far. Everything you suggest works! Should my 1 year old Mal know not to chew on throw rugs at this point? Sometimes we cannot turn your back on her before she’s chewing them up. She has plenty of chew toys & we exercise lots. Only in crate at bedtime. I’m wondering if this is a sign that she needs more mentally stimulating activities. I know it’s difficult to tell sometimes, but do you have thoughts on rug chewing? Thanks to you both!

Hi helping with v. high prey drive dog. Neutered staffi-x ex-shelter, 3 years old, adopted 1 year. Taught good basic obedience, then used that to teach @lowlevel ecollar. Still working long lines for safety responding really well, 95% of time without stim, otherwise one stim and he flies back. Came across a deer, which I had been preparing for, recalled, he ignored, followed with tap @max level on mini-educator, he hardly noticed, had to guide back with lead as well. e-collar was tight. Help! Thx

I know your stance is to keep your dogs unaltered. However, when i adopted my guy I had to sign a form to get him fixed before a year old. I was going to wait until this December when he is 11 months to do it. But I just got a job at SB humane and my boss’s and the vets have convinced me to do it now. Is 6.5 months an alright age? He is a mixed mal and on the shorter side, but 60lbs. I’m just worried about doing the right thing.

Hi Robert,  On the site you recommend the Garmin Sport XC ecollar. I had gotten the Garmin Sport Pro before I saw that–this collar has a light and the remote has 4 buttons and a dial for easier one-handed operation. However, instead of 36 levels, the separations are distributed among only 10 levels. I have an 8mo old Malinois. Do you think 10 levels is insufficient to gently fine tune corrections? Also, is it necessary to introduce the ecollar first before turning on the bark limiter feature?

My bordoodle is going onto 2 yrs. he’s “my”first ever dog taking care of all needs in training since 9 wks. your insight have helped me in training and on some psychological aspect of a dog.my question is in the morning my dog will come upstairs to hang out and sometimes lays down/sleeps in the doorway between rooms I mostly just walk over him to let him sleep/lay there as he watches me walk over him. Should I move him? Should I continue to walk over him? Does this make me less of a leader?

Mavis, now seven months and 50lbs Black and Tan English shepherd….when I push my arm into her latch of my arm she gets more “playful.” She ripped a two ply long sleeve shirt arm off. She gets so wound up the only choice is to pick her up to end the prey drive. Pushing into her and pulling the collar is being translated to “game on”. Arm is fully bruised after five minutes. What’s the next phase? Thanks, Mattie

In video with Joey you used constant stimulation on each other. In the lesson with Max you say tap or bump. I’m confused as to if I should use constant pressure and then release when he responds or I use continuous taps until he responds. Thank you.

I have a 7 months old West German Shepherd show line Dog. I have had her since she was 8 weeks old. She knows & does sit, stand, down, come, stay, wait, over here, backup, turn around, drop it, leave it, get it, quiet, and in your crate. At home she does her commands, but when I take her out in public or to the veterinarian’s office, she pulls on the leash, raises on her hind legs, barks and acts like she is a wild dog. She refuses to obey. She wears a prong collar. Should I use an e-collar?

Lenka C

Hello, would you use e-collar – vibration only for a puppy 17 weeks old? She is very hyper border collie/heeler cross, not good motivated. Thank you very much for the answer. Lenka
