Eating Poop

We cannot stop Jubilee (red Merle mini Australian Shepard) from devouring her poop. She is 3.5 months old. She also devours her food. Slowed that down with the puzzle bowls. We took her to vet and put her on For-Bid. Though she is slightly better now she grabs it and wants to run around house as if it’s a toy. Being in Montana we’ve had to train her with potty pads due to the cold. What else can we do re this. 🤬 No pun intended. 😜

    Hi Suzanne,

This question is asked quite a bit. Robert’s answer is usually that dogs eat poop when their normal food is lacking in some sort of nutritional value. So I’d say make sure the food has all the important health areas covered.

He also recommends being proactive as in being ready for the dog to use the potty and them not letting me eat to the point of them trying to eat it.

Crate training helps a ton, especially on a young puppy like yours.

I’d recommend submitting the question to Robert AMA only because you are using potty pads which is new for a question like this. The form can be found on the bottom of the members dashboard page – https://robertcabral.com/members-welcome/

Also I searched the term poop on the AMA archive page and there is a question that turned up that might help you until Robert answers your questions – https://robertcabral.com/member-questions-ama-01-26-21/

Thanks. New to the site. Confirming I don’t have to do anything.
