I see Play needs to be monitored. Some dogs play really rough my dog gets excited and wants to hump everything , dog play can turn pretty quick sometimes , even between dogs that are “buddies”. When I have dogs playing I am basically out there in the middle of it . I won’t let things get out of hand . The biggest thing that has helped me is studying body language .

This is a confusing post . From play observation ,which the body of the message says nothing about , to a completely lacking description of button work one has nothing to do with the other . So , what is it that you are actually trying to put across ?

Well, Lauren , I would like to know more about the protocols y and methods you are bound to . That would make for interesting discussion I am sure .

Get rid of the harness , I think you are moving forward too fast , if she is freaking it’s overload and you are going too far too soon , work closer to home in an area that she can feel safer . I would not worry about formal training yet .
She needs to be less fearful and more comfortable with her environment so she can actually begin to learn

Cory , hi
I would like to know how long you have owned her .
My dog took months to engage with me . He was four and never had a real leader .
It took a little while to change his way of thinking .

Yup he is just doing puppy stuff

Hi. Bjorn , the dog is more excited to go than he is to come back ,
My dog did the same thing and still does sometime .
So I will take him past the house for a bit , turn around and go past the house for a bit.
He then figures out what’s up and is better . Do that 10 or 15 times before .
It helped my dog a good bit . Gerard B

Riggan , I always like your answers .
I agree it looks like going back to the basics in a controlled environment is what this dog needs .

Okay this one I am able to talk to ….. first of all , I have always had large dogs .
They just are NOT allowed on the furniture . I do not need my furniture to smell like a dog
And I have enough hair as it is . The furniture is for people and the dog needs to know that . It is part of the hierarchy also . If your dog is little that could be managed .
But yours is not . You have a real dog there you need to be a real leader .
As a new dog he needs to adjust to you and you to him . Take a week or so to just be with him and observe . Do not push him right away . That is not to say you cannot direct him , keep a house lead on him so you can pick up control of him if you need . Lure the dog if need be with food . Personally I would not allow the furniture . That would also establish leadership right away . Now it may be that he won’t stay off the furniture and that would be another issue . New dogs need a little time to chill at first before you work them .
Just work on bonding . Hope this helps some

I think to work on teaching the out command would be good .
The out for my dog means get away from whatever he is focusing on at the time .
