Suzanne,
I went ahead and submitted your question for the next video. It will go up tonight.

Hi Suzanne,
This question is asked quite a bit. Robert’s answer is usually that dogs eat poop when their normal food is lacking in some sort of nutritional value. So I’d say make sure the food has all the important health areas covered.
He also recommends being proactive as in being ready for the dog to use the potty and them not letting me eat to the point of them trying to eat it.
Crate training helps a ton, especially on a young puppy like yours.
I’d recommend submitting the question to Robert AMA only because you are using potty pads which is new for a question like this. The form can be found on the bottom of the members dashboard page – https://robertcabral.com/members-welcome/
Also I searched the term poop on the AMA archive page and there is a question that turned up that might help you until Robert answers your questions – https://robertcabral.com/member-questions-ama-01-26-21/

Hey Aaron,
Due to the nature of your question – I would highly advice submitting this question to Robert’s AMA form. He answers all member questions with a video every Tuesday and Friday. You can find the form on the button of this page – https://robertcabral.com/members-welcome/. You will have to shorten it a bit and just focus on the last page but include the ago and breed of the dog in the question.
You can search the AMA video archive page as well for key words that fit your issue and see if any videos come up from the results. You can scan the results and see what was asked in the questions as well. https://robertcabral.com/member-questions/
Hopefully some other members can chime in on the issue as the discussion forums get more attention.

Hi Linh,
Sorry for the delayed reply. I am by no means a dog expert – I am more of the technical guy around here.
Separation Anxiety is a hard subject. Robert has answered many questions regarding this issue.
I suggest asking Robert using the Member Questions form on the bottom of the members page – https://robertcabral.com/members-welcome/ – He answers all questions twice a week in video format.
You can also search our archive of member questions using this page – https://robertcabral.com/member-questions/
I searched Separation Anxiety and two videos came up that matched
Hopefully these help!

I’d lean into what Robert has said about the subject in a few videos. Although I do think this would make a good member lesson so I’ll add it to the list of suggestions and try to push it up near the top. If the videos below don’t answer the question the way you were hoping, then I’d recommend submitting a AskMeAnything located at the bottom of the members page. You’ll have to condense the question as there is a character limit on the form.
If you submit it early enough today you’ll have the in time for the next video do this evening or tomorrow.

Robert goes over puppy biting in the FAQ course

Have you watch that yet?

I’m assuming you’ve watched all of Robert’s leash lessons here on the site?
Also don’t forget that you can submit any question to Robert for him to answer in this bi-weekly Member AMA.
The form can be found at the bottom of this page – https://robertcabral.com/members-welcome/

I think we will need a little time for the community forums and groups to grow some before we will have a good amount of people who are able to give this type of feedback.
Robert and myself have had conversations about giving special mod access and roles to experienced trainers that he trusts on the site so they can give advice and be able to promote their services and have a special icon next to their name for people to easily identify them.
I also would love to make sure I know the basics of protection training myself but I can see how it can be a slippery slop that will cause a lot of issues to the dog if done wrong. I will keep hassling Robert for a basic Intro to Protection training lessons. If I poke him enough, he might bite on the idea.
Here’s hoping!

I don’t think it’s a problem at all. Robert has no issue with people talking about protection, it’s in the description of the group that he wrote.
Robert just isn’t comfortable teaching protection work in his lessons. He would much rather have people train in person with a professional trainer.
I believe @maligatormom has experience in personal protection work with her dogs. Maybe she can chime in.

Just don’t acknowledgment the behavior – this was a constant thing when I got my GSD puppy. They call them land sharks for a reason when they are puppies.
It’s normal and goes away after a few months. It was good for me to go through because it taught Enzo to have a soft bite when we are playing “rough”. He’s almost 2 years old now and when he puts my hand in his mouth he is gentle (enough) with it.
Its much worse to have a dog that doesn’t know their bite pressure and how to be soft.
